Biography
Markette Smith is a multimedia journalist, reporting on the radio for NPR affiliate WAMU 88.5FM and on camera as a movie news correspondent and red carpet host for AMC Theatres.
On TV, Markette has served as a general assignment reporter and social media correspondent for CTV News where she anchored and produced a live weekly tech segment “Download Thursday.” She is also host of “The Scoop,” the flagship public affairs program of DCTV.
In print, Markette has served as a freelance health & fitness writer for Essence magazine and Essence.com since 2006. She started her career in multimedia as a Web producer for BET.com.
Markette earned a B.A. in communications and French from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a master’s degree in interactive journalism from American University.
